The castle Aggstein dates back to the 12th century. Today it is a ruin with a spectacular view of the Cultural Landscape Wachau.
That alone makes it worthwhile to drive up the narrow winding road. Well-developed stairs and viewing bridges offer visitors to advance into the deepest abysses and the dizzying heights.
As a warmup I chose the view from the palas into the court with the tavern. The cold wind made my hands stiff and the same applies to the sketch.

In the 16th century Wolf Huber (1485-1553) sketched the castle Aggstein. Don’t let anyone say that urban sketching is only existing since 10 years!
