The Museumsdorf Niedersulz In Colour And Black And White

12.07.19 12.07.19Urban Sketching Black-White, Open Air Museum

I love open-air museums! For me that is the closest thing to a time travel. If there is such a museum near my final travel destination, a visit there is…

Austria’s Answer To The House Of The Seven Gables

27.08.17 14.08.18Urban Sketching Black-White

Obviously this house has only three gables. (Austria is a little bit smaller that the United States ;-).) It is a former factory, which has been closed for decades. I…

Plants Are Getting In My Way

27.08.17 14.08.18Urban Sketching Black-White, Plant, Urban sketching

This is a homework for Liz Steel’s Sketching Now Foundations course. Obviously the assignment was to draw a part of a building covered by plants. I was amazed when I…

Village Church

26.08.17 20.08.18Urban Sketching Black-White, Church, Lower Austria

On a sunny weekend I sketched a village church in Lower Austria from two different points of view and in different styles. It is a fortified church, which means the…

House With Garden But Without Shadow

12.08.17 14.08.18Urban Sketching Black-White, House, Urban sketching

I was a little bit pressed for time and wanted to see how far I would come. I intended to add some shadow, but I couldn’t find my grey brush…

  • Welcome

My name is Patricia. Travelling, painting flat tin figures and urban sketching are three of my hobbies. And that’s exactly what this website is about.

  • And now for something completely different

One reason why I like travelling and sketching is that it gives me plenty of time to listen to music. Part of my collection was used as data material for the test phase of a new project. If you have ever asked yourself what I am listening while I am waiting for the next train or swinging the brush, the answer is here.

Instagram post 2169141303590020305_5781354086 I would have never dreamt being impressed by a performance of Bellini's 'I Puritani' after having seen it so often with Gruberova, Giordani, Hvorostovsky and Scandiuzzi in the 1990ties, but today's performance in Marseille was absolutely magnificent.

Instagram post 2168360076360614098_5781354086 I have not posted a stunning view for while. For this one has to climb a mountain and a lot of stairs or take bus 60. Can you guess where I am 😉

It is a painting by Trophime Bigot called 'Screaming Man' that is currently on display at the Caravaggio & Bernini exhibition in Vienna.

Instagram post 2158785521170268728_5781354086 In weather like today, I didn't sketch myself, but looked at the works of real artists and in this case one of the most ingenious artists ever. The Kunsthistorische Museum Vienna is currently showing the special exhibition "Caravaggio & Bernini". All in all, the exhibition doesn't impress me too much, but the opportunity to see the grandiose paintings of Caravaggio will lead me there a few more times.

Instagram post 2155158241462373619_5781354086 Looshaus - Adolf Loos caused a scandal in 1910 with this house, built for an exclusive men's outfitter. To this day, this wonderful building forms a fascinating contrast to the surrounding Baroque and Historicism.
