The Palais Coburg has probably the most expensive view in Austria. Although planed by one of Queen Victoria’s uncle in 1840, it was only his son August Victor Louis of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha who moved in in 1849. Because of the many columns people called the palais Spargelburg (castle of asparagus). At the end of the 1850ies the slighting of the city wall began and since then one has an unblocked view from the palais to the Ringstraße, which completely built over everywhere else.
This time it only took me two shorter lunch breaks but every time the place was complete in shadow.
