Back to Urban Sketching

It seem years have passed since I last sketched on location. I have not been very motivated in the last few months. This had less to do with Corona than with a general lack of interest. So I’ve only been sketching at home and haven’t put anything online at all. But yesterday this inglorious laziness finally came to an end. In order to get used to the outside world again, I decided to do a quick sketch of the ruins of Staatz Castle.

The castle was thought to be impregnable until the Swedish troops very quickly disproved this assumption in 1645 during the Thirty Years' War. Since then, a ruin has stood on the mountain.
